Welcome To The Meadow

Hi there! I'm so glad you're here :)

You're probably wondering, "Where is here?" Here is a safe space for you, me, and anyone who wants to join us. I have some big dreams around the concept of The Meadow, but this will always be the guiding light. I dream of creating a safe space for myself and others to exist. To feel joy but also sorrow and know that we can find solace here with any emotion in between. I primarily expect to be posting about books I've read or projects I may be working on but we'll see where the road takes us.

My inspiration behind The Meadow comes unironically from my endearment to the Twilight series. Don't come after me, I know it's bad. But it is comforting to me, so it's allowed. Anyway, I've dreamt of opening my own bookstore for several years now, and when I started brainstorming what I could name my shop, The Meadow was one of the first to come to mind. At first, it was very surface-level and cute, and most people probably wouldn't realize the reference to my beloved series was even there. And as I often do, I then spent too much time overanalyzing it. At this point, I thought about how meadows in books, movies, or any story really are often a place of safety. They function as a place to escape from the harsh reality of whatever situation our protagonist is in. Edward goes to the meadow to drown out his moody, self-loathing vampire thoughts. He brings Bella there so they can have a taste of a normal life together, away from everyone else. Katniss in The Hunger Games dreams of running away from the harsh realities of District 12, meeting Gale (we're team Peeta in this house), and running away together. There's got to be more examples, but that's what my brain's got right now. Comment other good examples if you have any!

Perhaps it's a shout into the void, a feeling most of us are likely familiar with, but imagine if it had the power to become more than that.
